#162 Kawanishi N1K2-J Prototype
The Kawanishi N1K2-J Prototype flying over Yokosuka 1944. This is the Platz PDR-2 kit in 1:144 with a pilot improvised from a Yamada Kagaku figure.

Notes
The Kawanishi N1K was an Imperial Japanese Navy fighter aircraft which was developed in two variants:
- The N1K Kyōfū (強風, Strong Wind) (Allied reporting name Rex), a floatplane designed to support forward offensive operations where no airstrips were available.
- The N1K-J Shiden (紫電, Violet Lightning) (reporting name George), a land-based version of the N1K.
The Kit
The Shiden-Kai N1K2-J “George” Late Type Platz No. PDR-2 1:144 includes 2 planes and 5 schemes.

Build Log

I closed up the wheel wells for inflight display using modified kit parts.

I modified a 1:150 figure from Yamada Kagaku to take the place of the pilot.

Mounting
It was a rush to get this build complete before I disappeared on holidays. In these shots, the decals are still wet, and final finishing is not complete.
